Cut out a 3 inch round circle from light blue clay and make a star impression in the middle. Do not cut the star all the way through. Do it lightly. |
Add white logs as shown. Indent the logs with the end of a small paintbrush or tool of your choice. The logs should now look like small hot dog buns. Roll small candy canes and put them in the "hot dog buns". Twist small white ropes and attach as shown. Roll blue and white candy canes and attach at the top for the snowmen's scarves. |
Add the heads. Press a ball of white clay into the middle of the ornaments. Cut out a white star with the cookie cutter you used to impress the star in step 2 and put it in the middles as shown. Add hats to the snowmen and holly leaves and berries. |
Snowflake Ornament Tutorial |
Some Variations |
This ornament was born during a downtime at a craft show. I always bring some clay to play with and here is my first attempt at the snowflake: |
Here is the second attempt: |
When creating new ornaments I always work with Super Sculpey. I don't move on to color until I am sure I like the design. Sometimes it looks better in the Super Sculpey than in colors, but that just means I made poor color choices. |
